Our primary objective is to train our students to be Major Appliance, HVACR or Electronics Technicians, but with the basic training we give you, particularly in the areas of Basic Electricity and Electronics, opportunities open up in other fields, as well. We tell our students that our training allows them to be entry-level technicians, equipped with the basics and fundamentals to succeed and advance in their fields. You will work on real washers, dryers, dishwashers, microwave ovens and other appliances, as you learn how to repair them. Bay State’s Domestic Refrigeration course covers the basics of refrigeration theory in terms of home refrigerators and air conditioners. You will learn about all the major components of a refrigerator and actually put them together to make your own fully-functional unit from scratch. In addition we will prepare you for EPA 608 and PSA on-site testing and certification. Commercial HVACR will immerse you in the basics of larger refrigeration and cooling units, electronic controls, ice machines, heat pumps, and more. This program prepares you to work in the commercial side of the industry and provides 100 hours of Massachusetts Refrigeration Code and 150 hours of Massachusetts Electrical Codes. Our Electronics Technician program features instruction from Basic through Advanced Electronics, Computer Repair and Networking, Telecommunications Networks, Security and Access Systems and with the “Hands-On” training you will be able to install, test, maintain and repair electronic systems. You’ll also receive preparation for the A+ Exam and on-site ISCET certification. Our graduates go on to work all over the United States for both small and large companies.
