Electrical/Electricity Online Distance Learning Course
Bay State School of Technology offers an Online Distance Learning Course on Basic Electricity that is an internet based course of study using hands-on labs for practical applications. The course is intended to benefit technicians and mechanics, including:
How it Works Students will work independently at their own pace. The school will provide appropriate course material including book and required lab equipment. Students will have access to the course for 6 months unless completed sooner. What will the Student Learn? Students will study the history of electricity, its origin, its discovery, and development since discovery. The elements of Ohms Law, including voltage, current, and resistance, will be covered and explained. Series and parallel circuits, capacitors, resistors, transformers, and switches will be studied. Students will learn to use a multi-meter to measure voltage, current, and ohms, and will also learn to read wiring diagrams. Admissions Requirements Students under eighteen years of age must have written parental permission to enroll in the class. Applicants should have access to a computer with Internet access and some experience navigating the Internet. Note: The application process provides a test for determining if computers are configured sufficiently to access the program content. Tools and Supplies All of the tools to be used in the labs will be furnished by the school. Students will receive a text book and meter which will be theirs to keep.
