Electronics Courses at the Bay State School of Technology will introduce the student to Basic Electricity and Electronics, including AC/DC theory, transistors, and analog and digital technology. You'll learn operating systems from DOS to Linux, while exploring and installing peripherals like disk drives and other devices. You'll cover networking from cables to routers, troubleshooting and prep for the A + and Network + Certification test, and more.

In addition, you'll study High-Definition TV and Sound System Calibration that will teach you how to adjust today's high-performance entertainment systems for maximum performance. A major component of the course is Mobile Electronics, where you will learn all about installing and servicing the large variety of electronic devices that are popping up in all cars and SUV's, such as GPS systems, satellite radio, wireless devices, CD/DVD/MP3 players and more.

The Bay State School of Technology offers two unique educational courses in electronics. Students wanting full hands-on training can elect to become a student at the school. In addition, students can select a combination of at home "online training" combined with classes that will meet at the Bay State Campus three times for labs (five hours each) on the course subject matter. All of the remainder of the nine unit seminar will be studied at home using the Internet to access the program Web site and take unit quizzes. The "hands-on" labs are conducted on Saturday morning's from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

The first lab will be on the first day of the program and is designed to teach the students to navigate the Web site for the course. The second lab will be on the Saturday at the end of the third week of study. The third lab will follow the fifth week of the program.

The Bay State School of Technology, Inc. is a co-educational, technical school committed to providing students with accelerated but thoroughly comprehensive training programs. The Electronics courses are recognized as one of the most comprehensive in New England.

This module of our Digital Age Technology Course is the foundation for all the other modules. Mobile, Hidef, Computers and Networks, the four other modules of Digital Age Technology Course would not exist without electronics. To prove the need for electronics we must look back to the recent past. Things we take for granted today were not even thought of 25 years ago. The first truly recognizable laptop computer was introduced in 1983. The ipod, a pocket staple today, was first sold in 2001 and now in 2007 over 100 million have been sold worldwide. The first generation cell phone was introduced in 1983 limited to basic telephone functions.

Today's cell can download and play music, take photos, connect to the internet and more. All forms of communication depend on this electronic circuitry. Fields such as: Auto Mechanics, Cable Installers, Computer Technicians, IT Support Technicians, Help Desk Operators, Appliance Service Technicians, Medical Technicians, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technicians, TV and Home Entertainment Sound System Calibrators, Office System Repairers and many others require electronic skills to troubleshoot, diagnose and service electronic devices and equipment.

We provide are students with the following skills: learning to use a multi-meter to check AC & DC voltage, current & resistance readings, learning to read wiring diagrams, learning the differences between series & parallel circuits, learning how to check for open or short circuits, electrical component recognition & learning to construct simple and complex circuitry.
