At Bay State School of Technology, we’ve specialized in “hands-on” training for over 30 years because we believe that this is the best way to learn. What you learn in the classroom in the morning, you’ll put to work in the shop or lab in the afternoon, working on actual HVACR units and trainers.
In our Major Appliance/Basic Electricity course, you’ll learn about electricity and how it works; you’ll learn how to read a wiring diagram and how to use it to diagnose problems. You will work on real washers, dryers, dishwashers, microwave ovens and other appliances, as you learn how to repair them.
Bay State’s Domestic Refrigeration course covers the basics of refrigeration theory in terms of home refrigerators and air conditioners. You
will learn about all the major components of a refrigerator and actually put them together to make your own fully-functional unit from scratch. In addition we will prepare you for EPA 608 and PSA on-site testing and certification.
Commercial HVACR will immerse you in the basics of larger refrigeration and cooling units, electronic controls, ice machines, heat pumps, mini-split systems and more. This program prepares you to work in the commercial side of the industry and provides 100 hours of Massachusetts Refrigeration Code and 150 hours of Massachusetts Electrical Codes.
Our Electronics Technician program features instruction in Basic through Advanced Electronics, Computer Repair and Networking, Telecommunications Networks, Security and Access Systems and with the “Hands on Training” you will be able to install, test, maintain and repair electronic systems.
